Memorial Service to Honor Writer & SBCC Instructor Anne Lowenkopf
Memorial services for SBCC Continuing Education instructor Anne Lowenkopf, who passed away on December 7, 2010, will be held on Sunday, February 13 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Schott Center Auditorium at 310 West Padre Street in Santa Barbara.
Former colleagues, students, and friends are invited to attend, share memories, and bring a finger-food snack or treat. Beverages will be provided.
Copies of AnneThology - a limited-edition collection of student writing inspired by Anne’s teaching - will be available for $20; the proceeds go to the Anne Lowenkopf Honorary Fund at SBCC. The book includes tips on writing by Anne and a forward by her husband, Shelly Lowenkopf, a renowned editor and educator.
Anne taught writing and literature at SBCC for 30 years and was an established author and sought-after editor.

Sleepy seaside Carpinteria woke up this morning to more than 500 ocean lovers saying “No on Measure J” at the Paddle Out Against Paredon event at the city’s beach. Surfers, kayakers, and supporters on the sand symbolized Carpinteria’s strength and sense of community, according to event organizer and surfer Carrie Reynolds. Additionally, the Chumash Maritime Association shared a traditional tomol (canoe).
